Chef’s Hat hosted a Greek cookbook signing event in South Melbourne, bringing together food lovers, family, and the rich flavours of Greek cuisine. The aromas and smiles said it all! (See Instagram highlights for more from the day.)

Guests enjoyed authentic Greek food in Melbourne, with mouth-watering gyros from Eleni’s Kitchen + Bar and indulgent desserts by Cakes by Thierry. It was a true celebration of flavour, laughter, and community. From tasting delicious bites to meeting the author, the day was filled with Greek culinary heritage and shared stories.

Showcasing Melbourne’s Greek Food Community:

Both Eleni’s Kitchen + Bar and Cakes by Thierry have been loyal Chef’s Hat customers for many years, and it was a privilege to highlight their creations at the event.

  • Eleni’s Kitchen + Bar, Yarraville – A family-owned restaurant with deep roots in Melbourne’s Greek community. Their menu revives traditional dishes once served at the first Greek restaurant opposite the Sun Theatre. Today, they’re known for authentic gyros, meze, and other Greek favourites that bring a taste of heritage back to Yarraville.

  • Cakes by Thierry – Based at Jimmy’s Deli in Yarraville, Thierry creates custom cakes, bento cakes, and handcrafted desserts that are as beautiful as they are delicious. From elegant birthday cakes to modern mousse creations, they’re a go-to for Greek desserts in Melbourne.

Launching Ela na Fáme – A Greek Cookbook Full of Heart:

The highlight of the day was the book signing of Ela na Fáme: A Story of Love, Passion and Provenance by Eleftheria ‘Thierry’ Amanatidis.

This inspiring Greek cookbook offers more than recipes – it’s a journey through family traditions, history, and cuisine. Inside, you’ll find classic dishes such as:

  • Spanakopita (spinach and cheese pie)

  • Moussaka

  • Lamb kleftiko

  • Rizogalo (creamy rice pudding)

With heartfelt stories and stunning photography, Ela na Fáme is a must-have for anyone interested in authentic Greek cooking in Melbourne and beyond.

You can purchase Ela na Fáme now at Chef’s Hat
